Book Covers

These two images are actually meant to be together because they were used for the same project. The entire class had to put together a book full of graphic designers, giving a biography on their assigned artist with some of their work. Each one of us had the opportunity to create their own book covers, and this was my idea. The artist I was assigned, Seymour Chwast, had a lot of really cool, stylized, expressionistic pieces that, to me, resembled graffiti and the graffiti-like sketches I incorporated for my book covers. I found a lot of great stock photos that resembled his art style in both color and black and white, and liked the idea of making a collage of colored sketches on a black and white patterned background for the back cover, and a collage of black and white sketches on a colored patterned backgound for the fron cover. I love the mixing of prints and styles and colors, while everything still looks cohesive, and I think my favorite part of this project was just how much personality it had.
